Mohamed Ismail Khalfouni is a cinematographer based in Edinburgh, shaped as much by life experience as by film sets. Growing up around Sufi traditions and dancing for years gave him an instinctive feel for rhythm and emotion — a sense of letting the camera move with people, not just observe them.

He understands how to collaborate, translate ideas into visual language, and stay calm in high-pressure environments. Alongside cinematography, he sometimes directs and produces when the story calls for it — work that helped him win Best Film at FIFAK and taught him how to make striking imagery on minimal resources. His experience ranges from independent shorts and ECVS collaborations to projects screening at the Cannes Film Festival, camera work on Outlander and Blood of My Blood, and producing for Al Jazeera. Across every scale, Ismail brings curiosity, movement and care to the frame.
